Finally back at the Armory Show
After a break of over 2 years, it was finally time to go to the Armory Show again. How many galleries would take the risk of flying to New York again? The entry regulations were still quite strict.
The location has changed from the old, run-down piers to the ultra-modern Javits Center in the middle of the city. As it was the first trade fair after Corona and also the first trade fair after the change of location, all shippers had to adapt to new challenges. The loading ramps, for example, were much smaller than before and meant a lot of waiting time. Unfortunately, this also had an impact on the time available for customers. I guess you still have to get used to that. But the hall itself was impressively large and clean. You got the feeling that there were even more US galleries than European ones.
We were there with two of our own art technicians and our Berlin Managing Director Christian Weber, who was in charge of the fair from the very beginning. This meant that our customers had a trustworthy contact person on site for specialist questions such as sales or acquisitions. Our two technicians both spent the entire time installing galleries and were responsible for packing them up at the end.
As far as we could see, the fair was a success with challenges for the few German galleries. In any case, a start has been made. After the fair is before the fair…
Thank you very much for your trust!
